Lightroom Workflow Step-by-step High ISO

DxO PureRAW 6 Workflow for Lightroom

This is the simplest way to use PureRAW 6 with Lightroom Classic: clean the RAW file first, then do your colour and finishing work in Lightroom. It keeps results consistent and saves you from fighting noise with heavy masking later.

The workflow in 60 seconds

Select your noisy or low-light RAWs → send to PureRAW 6 → process → bring the improved files into Lightroom → edit normally.

Step-by-step workflow

Step 1 — Import your RAW files into Lightroom

Do a normal import and flag your problem files first (high ISO, low light, underexposed, indoor, night scenes).

Tip: Start with the noisiest selects

Step 2 — Send selected photos to PureRAW 6

From Lightroom, choose the option to process the files in PureRAW (or open PureRAW and add the same RAW files). This is your pre-edit stage.

Goal: clean base file

Step 3 — Use a natural noise reduction choice

Pick a noise reduction setting that keeps texture believable. Avoid pushing things so far that skin, foliage or street textures go waxy.

Rule: natural texture wins

Step 4 — Process and export the improved files

Run the processing and export the improved output. Think of this as “fix the RAW” so Lightroom can focus on creative editing.

Best for: batch processing

Step 5 — Bring the processed files back into Lightroom

They’ll appear alongside your originals (or you can import them). From here you edit as normal: colour, contrast, masking, finishing.

Now do your creative grade

Step 6 — Finish: sharpening and export

Do final sharpening at the end of the pipeline, not at the pre-edit stage. Export for web/print as you normally would.

Keep the pre-edit clean

Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)

Processing everything

Start with the problem files first. You’ll get the biggest benefit where noise is actually limiting the photo.

Over-smoothing texture

If hair, skin, foliage or gritty street detail starts to look waxy, back it off and keep it natural.

Sharpening too early

Keep the pre-edit stage about clean detail. Do final sharpening once your edit is finished.
